Job Summary:
Participates in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness. Serves as a professional assistant to Psychiatrists who provide psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses; and engages in preventive care as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric interviews and collect diagnostic data.
- Provide a range of psychotherapies, including individual, group, and family therapy.
- Offer counseling for couples experiencing marital conflicts.
- Apply behavioral methods for treating children and adults, determining the frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
- Administer and interpret psychometric tests for diagnosis and therapy evaluation.
- Participate in research and educational initiatives to enhance treatment methods and techniques.
- Stay updated on advances in personality development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders to support mental health programs.
- Advise community organizations and participate in psychological and welfare-related activities.
- Provide after-hours or weekend on-call services as required for specific cases or emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Adhere to international guidelines, DOH regulations, and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards in patient care and professional duties.
- Comply with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and infection control policies, standards, and procedures.
- Follow documented OSH procedures and instructions related to assigned responsibilities.
- Remain familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Report OSH hazards, incidents, and near misses, and assist with preparing risk assessments and incident reports.
- Comply with waste management procedures and policies.
- Participate in OSH/Infection Control training, mock drills, and awareness programs.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems at all times.
Qualification, Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of clinical psychology.
- Strong understanding of medical ethics, particularly regarding the obligation to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in administering and interpreting intelligence, achievement, interest, personality, and other psychological assessments and measurement tools.
- Valid licensure in country of origin and DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues, supervisors, patients, and families.
