Position Summary
The CSSD Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all sterilization and sterile processing operations within the healthcare facility. This role ensures compliance with healthcare standards and regulatory requirements while driving operational efficiency, maintaining high quality and safety standards, and leading a skilled team of CSSD professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Sterilization Management: Direct and coordinate sterilization processes for all medical instruments and equipment, ensuring adherence to healthcare and regulatory standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, and develop CSSD staff, ensuring effective training, scheduling, and compliance with established protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control measures, including routine equipment testing, performance checks, and process audits.
- Inventory Control: Manage sterile supplies and instruments, including procurement, stock monitoring, and ensuring optimal inventory levels.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring departmental compliance at all times.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee regular servicing, calibration, and preventive maintenance of sterilization equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of sterilization cycles, quality control activities, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with surgery, nursing, infection control, and other departments to ensure seamless sterile processing services.
- Training & Development: Provide ongoing education and professional growth opportunities for CSSD staff to strengthen expertise and performance.
- Emergency Preparedness: Establish and implement response protocols for equipment malfunctions and other critical incidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and execute optimization initiatives to enhance efficiency, utilization, and service delivery.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in CSSD operations and management, with strong knowledge of hub sterilization processes and infection control. Prior experience in a CSSD hub is preferred.
