Lab Assistant – UAE National – Rabdan Charter School
Main Duties
- Provide laboratory support.
- Provide direct support in the preparation of all lessons taking place in science, ICT and LEGO laboratories and classrooms.
- Be available in the laboratory or prep rooms to support all teaching staff in these areas.
- Support classroom delivery, as required.
- Manage laboratories and ensuring that the right equipment, tools, chemicals, and other materials are adequately stocked and kept in working condition.
Specific Duties
- Liaise with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans.
- Run trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrate techniques for experiments.
- Ensure that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.
- Demonstrate accurate and appropriate use of all equipment.
- Set up, check, and issue, equipment, and apparatus for use in practical lessons as required by subject plans and in liaison with teaching staff.
- Retrieve and clear away apparatus and monitor stock levels.
- Maintain and repair equipment, laboratory, and LEGO apparatus.
- Maintain required records and logs of all maintenance and servicing of equipment and facilities.
- Manage the stock control of all equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is appropriately stored when not in use.
- Keep records, e.g. for students’ practical sessions, tracking methods and results.
- Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that all materials are appropriately stored.
- Support the work of teachers in classes and laboratory sessions and give technical advice to staff and students.
- Work with individual students and support them on research projects and in Extra Curricular Activities.
- Ensure that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.
- Coordinate work in the laboratory to ensure efficient use is made of expensive pieces of
- Conducting periodic tests on lab equipment and ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols equipment.
- Maintain a detailed inventory list that includes item names, quantities and expiration dates (if applicable).

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience of US Common Core curriculum will be an advantage.
