Job Purpose:

Oversee and implement the Infection Prevention and Control program throughout the health system to ensure patient safety, reduce the risk of infections, eliminate avoidable healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and maintain compliance with the requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies, as well as international best practices appropriate to Dubai Health facilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Assist in continuously improving productivity and reinforce the same with staff members.
• Collaborate with leaders to align with system goals.
• Collaborate with various departments, diverse teams, service lines, and disciplines, including clinicians, administrators, and public health officials across multiple sites to ensure that international and evidence-based best practices are followed and that all regulatory and accreditation requirements are met fully.
• Collect and analyze data, identify trends and improvement areas, prepare and present reports to the Chair of Patient Safety and Quality Department, the Chair of Corporate IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) Committee, and all other stakeholders as appropriate.
• Conduct regular rounds in healthcare facilities for discussing, monitoring, and following the practices of Infection Prevention and Control.
• Develop and implement system-wide infection prevention and control strategies.
• Ensure that the Infection Prevention and Control Program uses appropriate statistical tools and techniques to describe the data, calculate rates, and critically evaluate the significance of findings.
• Analyze and report trended data and display the data in an appropriate graphical manner.
• Establish and maintain an up-to-date Infection Prevention and Control program, policies, procedures and guidelines for the health system.
• Lead investigations into outbreaks and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain established Infection Prevention and Control guidelines.
• Maintain a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Chair of Corporate IPC Committee and/or Chief of Infectious Diseases.
• Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, staff, and self-development as outlined in the performance review.
• Participate in or lead research initiatives to advance infection prevention and control.
• Plan, develop, facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate all aspects of the organization’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability related to infection prevention and control.
• Provides coaching, counseling, and other support for the facilities.
• Serving as a subject matter expert on Infection Prevention and Control, providing consultation, guidance and support about Infection Prevention and Control program elements, practices, processes and products used by different departments, practice settings and staff including infection preventionists at all levels and facilities of the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the direct line manager to ensure smooth operations of the department.

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in medicine/nursing/laboratory technology/microbiology/public health/biology/health-related field.
• Master’s in healthcare studies/healthcare management/public health.
• Internationally Recognized professional Certification (E.g. CIC – Certification in
• Infection Control).
• PhD in Infection Prevention and Control.

Experience Requirements:

• 3 years’ experience in the healthcare quality field in activities relevant to the roles.
• 2 progressive experiences in quality or facilitating interdisciplinary improvement teams in a healthcare setting, or other relevant experience.
