Job Description

The Radiographer is responsible for performing high-quality radiographic examinations in accordance with established clinical, safety, and quality standards. The role ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and strict compliance with radiation protection protocols. The Radiographer contributes to maintaining a safe and efficient radiology department, supporting diagnostic excellence and the delivery of superior patient care across Smart Salem centers.

Key Responsibilities 

Radiographic Procedures & Patient Safety

• Perform X-ray examinations accurately, following established clinical protocols and safety standards.

• Ensure any modified procedure is not implemented without approval from both the Radiologist and the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO).

• Verify patient identity using two identifiers (name and Individual Identity Number) prior to any procedure.

• Obtain and document responses to pregnancy screening questions for all female patients of reproductive age; if uncertain, treat as pregnant and follow necessary precautions.

• Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to sensitive organs, ensuring proper shielding and positioning.

• Remain behind the protective barrier during exposure and ensure all safety measures are observed.

• Refuse or defer any exposure if clinical information is insufficient or inaccurate and escalate to the supervising Radiologist.

• Ensure the provision of complete clinical information related to each patient and examination.

Radiation Safety & Equipment Management

• Comply with all radiation safety standards, ensuring equipment and facilities meet regulatory requirements.

• Ensure a radiation safety program is developed, implemented, and maintained.

• Always wear personal radiation monitoring devices (dosimeters) in controlled areas.

• Perform routine temperature and humidity checks in all radiology areas.

• Maintain radiology equipment, ensuring cleanliness, readiness, and proper function; promptly report malfunctions.

• Maintain adequate stock of radiology supplies and ensure proper storage and rotation.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to infection control guidelines and quality standards defined by the Medical Fitness Infection Control Committee.

• Follow all approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and practice within the defined scope of professional responsibility.

• Upload images promptly to the system for radiologist review; monitor pending logs regularly to maintain Turnaround Time (TAT) standards.

• Accurately document and report incidents, adverse events, or deviations within the required time frame.

Collaboration, Training & Professional Conduct

• Support the orientation and training of new employees within the radiology department.

• Share information appropriately among colleagues as per internal communication policies.

• Maintain positive working relationships with other departments and centers to ensure workflow efficiency.

• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all Information Security policies and facility protocols.

• Act as a Smart Salem brand ambassador, providing patient-centered and courteous service.

• Participate in departmental meetings, health exhibitions, and training sessions to maintain clinical and professional competence.

• Perform any other related duties assigned in line with the core responsibilities of the role.

• Support the implementation of Smart Salem’s radiation safety, infection control, and quality assurance policies in alignment with DHA regulations.

• Promote a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to all radiation protection guidelines and facility protocols.

• Maintain professional certification and actively engage in ongoing training, education, and competency development.

• Uphold Smart Salem’s standards of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and patient-centered service excellence.

Qualifications and experience 

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging from a recognized institution. Valid DHA license or eligibility as a Radiographer
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in diagnostic radiography, preferably within medical fitness, wellness, or healthcare environments
