Position: Midwife Department: Obstetrics & Gynecology / Labor & Delivery Location: Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital, Dubai, UAE

Job Purpose: The Midwife will be responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centric, and evidence-based midwifery care to antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum women and their neonates. This role involves assisting and supporting patients throughout the labor and delivery process, providing patient and family education, and collaborating effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct midwifery care, including assessments, monitoring, and interventions during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
• Assist and support patients during the labor and delivery process, including setting up for deliveries and other procedures.
• Assess the patient and determine deviations from normal during the process of labor and postpartum period.
• Assist the team in dealing with life-threatening situations during delivery to provide initial stabilization pending arrival of the physician.
• Assess and care for the normal newborn immediately after birth.
• Provide assistance with postpartum care, including breastfeeding support.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, taking into account patients’ individual needs.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of all midwifery interventions in accordance with hospital policies and DHA regulations.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with other departments for booking procedures, tracking information, and obtaining supplies or equipment.
• Provide patient and family education on various aspects of maternal and neonatal care.
• Operate emergency and life-saving equipment with proficiency.
• Maintain infection control standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, ensuring compliance with national and international accreditation standards.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives and enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Participate in departmental meetings, educational activities, and continuous professional development.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery from an accredited institute/college/university.
• Minimum of 3 years of current and continuous experience as a Registered Midwife in a hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit.
• Mandatory DHA License or eligibility for DHA License.
• Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications.

Required Skills & Attributes:
Fluency in English (written and verbal) is essential. Arabic language skills are a plus.
